Last month, three members of our team had the incredible opportunity to spend the day at our local sporting village, connecting with over 1,000 students and career seekers. Our goal was simple but powerful: to help young people and adults alike discover their passions, explore career paths, and inspire the next generation of talent.
We kicked off the day bright and early, setting up our demonstration table. To make the experience hands-on and interactive, we brought along our Yealink phones, TP-Link router, and switch, allowing us to demonstrate a fully functioning network setup. A revolving screen displayed all of our business services, giving visitors a dynamic view of what we do every day.
The morning was dedicated to connecting with local school attendees. Many were just beginning to explore potential careers, seeking work experience or apprenticeships. Others were curious about the world of IT and technology but hadn’t yet found their niche. Our team spent the morning engaging in conversations, answering questions, and helping students see the exciting possibilities within IT, cyber security, and tech support roles.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to job seekers of all ages and backgrounds. We dove deeper into our network setup, explaining how devices communicate, the importance of cyber security, and how IT support keeps businesses running smoothly. Our aim was to demystify the technology behind everyday operations and give attendees a clear sense of how IT impacts their lives and future careers.
The day was filled with energy, curiosity, and meaningful discussions. It was inspiring to see so many individuals eager to learn, explore, and take the next step toward their careers. Beyond teaching and demonstrating, it was a day of giving back—something we at Immervox are incredibly proud of.
Events like this remind us why we do what we do: sharing knowledge, fostering curiosity, and supporting our community. We left the skills show energised and motivated, knowing that even a small interaction can spark big ideas and help someone take their first steps towards a fulfilling career.
